Kiefer Sutherland was born on December 21, 1966, in London, England, to Canadian actors Shirley Douglas and Donald Sutherland. His maternal grandfather, Tommy Douglas, was a Scottish-born Canadian politician who served as Premier of Saskatchewan for over 17 years.

Move to California

When Kiefer was around 10 years old, his mother moved him and his younger sister to California. This move would later shape his acting career as he would eventually become a United States citizen.
