Atalanta Held to 1-1 Draw at Marseille

Italian side Atalanta was held to a 1-1 draw at Marseille in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

Ruslan Malinovskyi gave Atalanta the lead in the 23rd minute of the match, but Marseille hit back just eight minutes later when Cengiz Under leveled the score. The French side came close to snatching the lead in the second half, but Jordan Veretout's penalty was saved by Pierluigi Gollini.

Atalanta will host Marseille in the second leg of the semi-final on May 11. The winner of the tie will face either Manchester United or Barcelona in the final, which will be held in Seville on May 17.

This is the first time Atalanta has reached the semi-finals of a major European competition. They are the first Italian side to reach the last four of the Europa League since 2019, when Inter Milan won the competition.

The match was played in front of a crowd of 60,000 fans at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille. The atmosphere was electric, and both teams gave everything on the pitch.
